Leicester City vs Chelsea - Premier League Preview and Odds

September 09, 2017 15:00pm - King Power Stadium

Premier League

The last two Premier League champions will go head to head on Saturday as 15th-ranked Leicester City take on sixth-ranked Chelsea at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester City almost pulled off a shock on the opening day when they twice led away to Arsenal before eventually falling 4-3. They bounced back with a 2-0 home win over new boys Brighton and Hove Albion but looked decidedly second best in the defeat to Manchester United last time out. Next up for Craig Shakespeare`s men is a home clash against last season`s dominant team.

The Foxes have shown few glimpses of their 2016 title-winning form although they did go toe-to-toe with an out-of-sorts Gunners side on day one. However, they have lost just one of their last eight home games in the league, a run that included a 3-1 win over Liverpool last term.

Meanwhile, Chelsea had a nightmare start to the season falling 3-2 at home to Burnley but have since resumed normal service with wins over Tottenham Hotspur and Everton. Antonio Conte`s men Chelsea won 12 out of 14 games away from home to sides outside of the top six last term so will be confident of getting a result here. In fact, in the corresponding fixture last year, they strolled to a 3-0 victory.

The Blues will be glad to welcome back star player Eden Hazard as well as defender Gary Cahill with former Leicester man Danny Drinkwater in line for a debut appearance against his former club.

Betting odds and tips

Despite a wobbly start it looks like business as usual for Chelsea who have yet to miss the goals of Diego Costa. They should prevail here but it is worth noting that the Foxes have scored in every home game since Craig Shakespeare took over the reins at the King Power Stadium. As a result, Chelsea/Both Teams to Score looks like the choice bet.
