Lithuania made a bright start to their World Cup qualifying campaign recording excellent draws against Slovenia and Scotland before easing to a 2-0 win at home to Malta. Unsurprisingly, they then fell to back-to-back defeats away to Slovakia and England to leave them fifth in Group F.

But despite their lowly position in the table, they are still just four points adrift of second place and must still be considered as contenders for a place in the play-offs. The 2-0 defeat to England at Wembley could actually be marked down as a good given the group favourites strong home record, especially as it followed a disappointing 4-0 hammering in Slovakia. They will now have a chance to avenge that humbling defeat when they take to the field in front of their own fans on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Slovakia have responded well after they kicked off their campaign a pair of tight 1-0 defeats to England and Slovenia. Since then, they have won three matches on the trot against Scotland, Lithuania, and Malta scoring 10 goals and conceding just one in the process. They now sit in second place in the group and will look to consolidate that position with a win here.

Recent friendly defeats to Uganda and Sweden may have rocked their confidence a little but it is the qualifying results that matter. And with their hosts is shaky form, they will really fancy their chances of prevailing here.
