Premier League preview and odds: West Ham United vs Stoke City

December 12, 2015 15:00pm - Boleyn Ground

Premier League

Injury-plagued West Ham will be looking for their first win in five games on Saturday when mid-table Stoke pay a visit to East London in the Barclays Premier League. Hammers winless in five

West Ham have not won a Premier League game since October but their cause has not been helped by a bout of injuries to key players during that time. Despite their woes, they are still sitting in seventh place in the table on 23 points. The good news for Coach Slaven Bilic is that his side has not lost a game on home soil since August, having won two and drawn three in that time. Their last two home encounters, against Everton and West Bromwich Albion, ended with 1-1 scorelines.

They come into this game on the back of a 0-0 draw away to Manchester United which marked their third draw in the last four games.

Stoke looking to penetrate top half of table

Only Leicester City have recorded more points over the last ten games than Stoke City. However, thanks to a winless run of six games at the start of the season, Mark Hughes` men are still inhabiting the bottom section of the table in 11th place. With places so tight in the middle of the table, a win at West Ham this weekend could finally elevate the Potters into the top ten.

They come into this game on the back of a 2-0 home win against Manchester City which marked their third league win in the last four games. Away from home, they have won three of their last five but were beaten last time out at Sunderland by two goals to nil.

Team news

Winston Reid is the latest player to have joined the West Ham sick list after pulling a hamstring in training. The Hammers are already coping without the services of joins Victor Moses, Manuel Lanzini, Diafra Sakho, Enner Valencia and Dimitri Payet.

Meanwhile Stoke are still without Peter Odemwingie and veteran striker Peter Crouch.

Betting odds and tips

West Ham`s strong home form and Stoke`s good away record could cancel each other out in this game. The Hammers have drawn three of the last four at home and another draw can be backed at 12/5 with Betfred.
