Manchester City vs Manchester United - Premier League Preview and Odds

November 11, 2018 16:30pm - Etihad Stadium

Premier League

This weekend`s Manchester derby comes at her end of a successful week for both clubs. The home side demolished Southampton 6-1 last weekend before putting another six past Shakhtar Donetsk without reply in Wednesday`s Champions League clash.

Meanwhile, Manchester United ground out a pair of 2-1 wins away from home, beating Bournemouth in the league before claiming the scalp of Juventus in Turin. The win in Italy may have occurred against the run of play but Jose Mourinho`s men weathered the storm and came away with all three points.

On the domestic front, the Sky Blues continue to set the pace in the league but their advantage remains slim with Chelsea and Liverpool both breathing down their necks. A slip up this weekend could hand the advantage back to their rivals who both play on Sunday. However, Pep Guardiola`s men are unbeaten in 11 games in all competitions and have won all of their Premier League home games this season having scored 24 goals and conceded just three.

In contrast, Manchester United have had a stuttering start to their campaign, having already lost three matches and are currently languishing in seventh place, nine points adrift of the leaders. Defeat here would almost certainly end any feint title hopes they may have still had.

On a positive note, they were the last team to win a league game at the Etihad Stadium, coming back from two goals down to win 3-2 back in April. However, their rivals had the title all but sewn up by that point.

Despite some less than convincing performances at domestic level, they have put some decent results together in the last few weeks winning three of their last four and drawing away to Chelsea. A win here would give them a massive boost in their quest to reach the top four.

Betting odds and tips

The visitors will arrive with some momentum following their midweek victory in Europe but they still look shaky at the back and could get punished here. They have only kept one clean sheet all season and are going up against the league’s most prolific scorers. However, they have scored in their last eight Premier League matches and should be backed to score again here. A home win with both teams to score looks the best bet.

You can back Manchester City/Both teams to score at a price of 7/4.
