Premier League preview and odds: Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur

February 14, 2016 16:00pm - The Etihad Stadium

Premier League

The second and fourth-ranked teams in the Barclays Premier League will jostle for position on Sunday as title-favourites Manchester City welcome an ever-improving Tottenham Hotspur side to the Etihad Stadium.

City stumbling in title bid

Manchester City failed to take the initiative in the title race last week when they were beaten on home soil by league leaders Leicester City. As a result, Manuel Pellegrini`s men have fallen to fourth in the table, six points off the pace.

A win against Spurs this weekend would keep them in the race for glory, while defeat could leave them nine points adrift with 12 games left to play, if Leicester win against Arsenal.

Big chance for Spurs to lay down marker

Thanks to their consistency throughout the season, Tottenham Hotspur are now firmly in the Premier League title hunt. They can give their campaign another massive push by beating title favourites Manchester City the weekend. With Leicester and Arsenal plating the same day, it could be a pivotal weekend for all the main contenders.

In their last game Maurico Pochettino`s men beat Watford 1-0 at home to bag their fourth win on the trot. The North Londoners have not lost away from home since the opening day of the season.

Team news

The home side will be without the injured group of David Silva, Jesus Navas, Kevin de Bruyne, Eliaquim Mangala and Samir Nasri, while Wilfried Bony and Vincent Kompany could both return after spells out. Meanwhile, Spurs will be without Jan Vetonghen and Clinton N`Jie.
