Everton vs AFC Bournemouth - Premier League Preview and Odds

January 13, 2019 14:30pm - Goodison Park

Premier League

Everton`s poor run of form continued with a home defeat to Leicester City last time out making in one win in eight for Marco Silva`s men. Next up is a home clash against an AFC Bournemouth side who have lost eight, drawn one and won just two of their last 11 league matches leaving them level points with their hosts. With both sides looking to break out of their slumps, Sunday`s game is set to be an intriguing encounter.

At the start of the season, few Everton fans would have expected to be sat 30 points behind their city rivals Liverpool in the middle of January. But a season which started in a positive fashion has proved to be another false dawn for the Toffees.

The Merseyside club have exactly the same points total after 21 games as they had last season when Sam Allardyce was less than two months into his short-term tenure. They have lost four of their last five and have picked up just five points from their last eight games. A run which began with the defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

On home soil, they are winless in four and lost their last two in a row, a 2-6 defeat to Tottenham and a 0-1 loss to Leicester City. If results do not pick up soon, the pressure will start to mount on Marco Silva who has yet to convince the faithful he is the right man to take the club forward.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth are also trying to dig themselves out of a hole following having picked up just seven points from their last 11 matches. To put that in context, they earned 20 points from their previous 10 fixtures. That run has seen them drop out of contention for Europe and into the bottom half of the table.

On a positive note, they showed spirit when twice coming from behind to grab a 3-3 draw at home to in-form Watford last time out. Coach Eddie Howe will be hoping they can build on that to take advantage of an Everton side lacking in confidence.

The Cherries have lost their last five away matches but they faced both Manchester clubs and Tottenham Hotspur in that run. They have also lost all of their three previous visits to Goodison Park.
