Premier League preview and odds: AFC Bournemouth vs Liverpool

April 17 , 2016 13:30pm - Vitality Stadium

Premier League

AFC Bournemouth will continue their push for a Premier League top-10 finish when they welcome European qualification chasers Liverpool to the Vitality Stadium on Sunday.

AFC Bournemouth eyeing top-half finish

With five games left to play, AFC Bournemouth can already look forward to another season of top-flight football after amassing a total of 41 points. The newcomers from the South Coast were many people`s favourites for the drop this term, but they have defied all the odds by staying up comfortably and could even be on course for a top 10 finish.

Eddie Howe`s men have achieved their season goal of survival while adhering to their footballing principles. As a result, they have gained many admirers at home and abroad.

Since the turn of the year, the Cherries have won three and lost five of their games on home soil. Most recently, they were beaten 4-0 by Champions League semi-finalists Manchester City. They followed that up with a win away from home at lowly Aston Villa.

Liverpool still chasing Euro qualification spot

Liverpool still have a chance of grabbing a European qualification slot but they will have to rely on other teams slipping up if they are to achieve that goal.

The Reds have won four of their lasts seven away matches in the league, and have lost just one of their last eight matches in all competitions. In their most recent league match, they strolled to a 4-1 victory over Stoke City at Anfield.

Team news

Both sides have had their fair share of injury woes over the course of the season. This weekend, Bournemouth will be without the services of Benik Afobe, Tokelo Rantie and Tyrone Mings, while Harry Arter, Junior Stanislas and Adam Smith are all doubtful.

Meanwhile, the visitors will continue without Jordan Henderson, Jordan Rossiter, Danny Ings and Joe Gomez, while Christian Benteke remains doubtful.
