The third race of Day 2 promises to be a tight affair, with Max Dynamite (twice placed in the Melbourne Cup) and William Henry neck and neck in the betting. The former certainly looks like the class horse in the field but the weight, course and going could all go against him bringing others into play.
Nicky Henderson has history here having won with Whisper four years ago. This time, he will be hoping that William Henry can bring it home for owner Dai Walters. Having pulled up on his first race of the season in November, he atoned by winning at Kempton last time out. There are still plenty of questions marks over eight-year-old but the connections are confident that the horse is well-prepared for this challenge.
With such a tight field, the big-priced horses could come into to play and each-way punters might find some interest here. Dusky Legend has festival experience, having been placed twice in previous years and her consistency and experience could bring here into contention. With a price of 50/1 available, she looks well worth a wager in the each-way market.
