Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle Preview - Cheltenham Festival

March 13, 2018 16:50pm - Cheltenham

Cheltenham Festival

Distance: 2m 87y

Grade: 3

Runners: 22

Winner: £45,560

Going: Heavy (soft in places)

The penultimate race on Wednesday should provide some great entertainment as there are half a dozen horses in with a chance. As a result, there could be a chance to land some big-priced each-way bets here. One such suggestion is Turning Gold who looks would be worth a punt with prices in excess of 22/1 available. He has progressed well over the fences, placing well before landing a decent win in the Victor Ludorum at Haydock, posting a quick time and seeing off some testing opposition. A horse of this quality cannot be ignored at such a long price and each-way bettors could do a lot worse than plump for Nigel Twiston-Davies` inmate. It should also be taken into consideration that Hawk High followed the same trajectory in 2014, winning at Haydock before triumphing here.

Also worth pondering as an each-way contender is Lisp. With proven stamina, this kind of race should suit him although he may have preferred slightly firmer ground. However, the heavy going could hinder some of his rivals even more, so that should not rule him out. One rival that should not be out off by the conditions is Look My Way. He is not fazed by soft or heavy ground and could feature as the legs of others get heavy providing he can find enough cover to keep himself in the hunt.
