In the third race of the day and the last before the Gold Cup, the tension will be rising as the 15 entries line up for the Spa Novices` Hurdle. Nicky Henderson has three strong contenders here with Santini and Chef Des Obeaux the shortest priced runners in the field. The third of his entries, OK Corral is competing at this distance for the first time but showed at Kempton Park last time out that a step up in distance (to 2m 5f) actually suits him after he failed to get going over 2m run at Newbury. The eight-year-old has yet more potential and the extra couple of furlongs could allow him to realise it here. He certainly looks the most interesting prospect with a price of 14/1 available at time of writing.
For real each-way value, take a look at Mulcahys Hill. The six-year-old has all the potential but has yet to really catch the attention leaving him way down the pecking order in the betting markets. He battles well and will relish the extra furlongs and soft going. He arrives here fresh and under the radar, and with a price of 50/1 available at time of writing, he is a worth a small each-way bet.
