Premier League preview and odds: Southampton vs Tottenham Hotspur

December 19, 2015 15:00pm - St. Mary’s Stadium

Premier League

Two teams with just one win apiece in their last five games will go head-to-head on Saturday as Southampton Welcome Tottenham to St. Mary’s Stadium in the Barclays Premier League.

Three defeats in four for Saints

After a four game winless run featuring three defeats and a draw, Southampton have slipped down to 12th in the Premier League table. On a more positive note, they have only lost one of their last five games on home soil.

Last time out they went down by a single goal away to Crystal Palace and prior to that, there were held 1-1 at home by league trailers Aston Villa. They will hoping to get back to winning ways on Saturday against another team that has struggled to win matches in recent weeks.

Spurs suffer first defeat since Match Day One

Tottenham’s 14-game unbeaten run finally came to an end last week when they were defeated 2-1 at home by a resurgent Newcastle side. The defeat extended Spurs` winless streak to three games but despite their dip in form, they remain in fourth position in the Premier League table.

The defeat to Newcastle was preceded by a run that included three draws and a win to take their total points haul from the last five games to six out of a possible 15. Mauricio Pochettino will be buoyed by the fact that his side has still not lost away from home since the opening day of the current campaign.

Team news

Ronald Koeman will be hoping that Graziano Pelle and Maarten Stekelenburg will be back for this clash, however he will have continue without the services of Jay Rodriguez, Florin Grados and Fraser Forster.

Spurs are still without Alex Pritchard, while Clinton N`Jie, Ryan Mason and Moussa Dembele could all feature after recent knocks.
