Chelsea vs Sunderland - Premier League preview and odds

May 21, 2017 15:00pm - Stamford Bridge

Premier League

This top versus bottom clash is unlikely to throw up too many surprises as Chelsea look to sign off in style at the Bridge against a Sunderland team that can`t wait for the season to end.

Champions looking to finish on a high

Having already been crowned Premier League champions, this game will not hold much significance for Chelsea, although the ever-professional Antonio Conte will want his team to finish the season with a win.

The Blues have won their last five matches in a row and have won 16 of their last 18 on home soil. They are the league`s highest goal scorers and scored three goals or more in seven of their last 10 home matches.

Meanwhile, Sunderland arrive in London having already been relegated from the top flight. The Black Cats will finish bottom of the division regardless of the result on Sunday. After this game, the future of David Moyes will be decided as the club starts to plan for life in the Championship.

The northeast side failed to score a single goal in five of their last six away games. The only exception was a two-goal haul in an away win at Hull that ultimately came too late for the beleaguered side.

Betting odds and tips

Chelsea have scored in every home match this season and have notched up more goals than any other side. However, they will be tempted to rest key players ahead of next week`s FA Cup final and that could prevent the scoreline from embarrassing the visitors.

As a result, Sunday`s game should be a relatively easy test to pass for the newly-crowned champions but not the goal fest that many have predicted.
