French Open preview and odds: Stan Wawrinka vs Lukas Rosol

May 22, 2016 TBC - Roland Garros

Fresh from their recent semi-final clash in Geneva, Stan Wawrinka and Lukas Rosol will square up again in the first round of the French Open Championships. Can the reigning champion make it five wins in five meetings against the 30-year-old Czech?

Veteran duo meet again

Reigning French Open champion Stan Wawrinka kept up his 100% head-to-head record against Lukas Rosol with victory in last week`s Geneva Open semi-final. However, the World No. 4 needed all three sets to see off his experienced opponent.

Having made the final in Geneva, Wawrinka will now set about retaining his Grand Slam crown. It has been a typically mixed season for Stan with some solid wins and surprise defeats, peppered with the odd stellar performance.

Lukas Rosol will not relish playing Stan so soon after their recent clash, especially in the first round of a major. The two also met in the third round of the Australian Open this year where Wawrinka prevailed in three sets.

The 30-year-old Czech made it to the third round here last year where he was surprisingly beaten by World No. 80 Teymuraz Gabashvili. He has yet to progress beyond the third round at any Grand Slam event.

Betting predictions

Stan Wawrinka has been pacing himself for this tournament and seems to have timed it just right. He has yet to lose to his opponent and has won in straight sets in their two previous five-set clashes. He should be backed to make it 5/0 against Rosol next week.
