Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotpsur - Premier League Preview and Odds

February 22, 2020 12:30pm - Stamford Bridge (London)

Premier League

The weekend kicks off with a London derby full of significance as Chelsea host Tottenham Hotspur with control of fourth-place up for grabs.

Chelsea`s grip on fourth place has loosened in recent weeks and could let go altogether on Saturday as apprentice Frank Lampard welcomes Master Jose Mourinho to the Bridge. The Blues have a one-point advantage over their rivals and are just three points clear of seventh-ranked Manchester United.

Lampard`s men are winless in four Premier League matches and were beaten at home by Manchester United last time out. What`s more, they have only won one of their last four at home. That run included defeats to AFC Bournemouth and Southampton.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur arrive in South West London in good shape having risen from 12th to fifth since Jose Mourinho`s appointment. They have won their last three Premier League matches in a row and have lost just two of their last eight on the road.

RB Leipzig inflicted a 1-0 defeat on the Londoners in their midweek Champions League tie at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. That may have dented their confidence a little but a top-four finish remains their priority.

When the two teams met just before Christmas, it was the Blues who came out on top, winning 2-0 in North London. Chelsea also won this fixture 2-0 last season.

Predicted line-ups:

Chelsea: Arrizabalaga Zouma, Rudiger, Tomori James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Alonso Willian, Mount, Abraham

Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Tanganga Dier, Ndombele Fernandes, Lo Celso, Bergwijn Alli

Recent Form (League)

Chelsea: LDDLW

Tottenham Hotspur: WWWDL

Betting odds and tips

Chelsea`s recent wobble combined with Spurs` revival makes the away win look tempting at 7/2. And the Blues have already lost at four times at home this season to teams below them in the table.

You can back the Away win at 7/2.
