Manchester City vs Crystal Palace - Premier League Preview and Odds

September 23, 2017 15:00pm - Etihad Stadium

Premier League

Manchester City will look to extend their unbeaten run to six matches when they welcome a Crystal Palace side who have yet to earn a point or score a league goal to the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

The Manchester club come into this game having scored 11 goals in their last two games and having won four of their first five league fixtures. Their only dropped points came when they were reduced to 10 men in the 1-1 draw against Everton.

The 5-0 thrashing of Liverpool was perhaps the most surprising result of the season so far, despite the fact that the Reds had been reduced to 10 men with score at 1-0. Some of the momentum from that game was carried forward to the next as they crushed Watford 6-0 away from home last time out.

The Sky Blues performances seem to be improving every week as their best players and new signings quickly find their form. Sergio Aguero already has five goals to his name, while Gabriel Jesus has netted four times in five starts.

Meanwhile, opponents Crystal Palace have endured one of the worst starts to a Premier League campaign on record. A run of five straight defeats without a single goal scored has left them rooted to the bottom of the table a full 13 points behind this weekend`s opponents.

New boss Roy Hodgson will have his work cut out as he puts his tried and tested methods to the test against Pep Guardiola. There was some good news for the ex-England boss as he led his side to a 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town in their midweek League Cup clash. Whether they can build on that performance here remains to be seen but it is hard to imagine that they can get any worse in the league. From that perspective, the only way is up for Palace regardless of what happens this weekend.

Betting odds and tips

Anything other than a home win would be one of the shock results of the season so don`t expect much value for backing the Sky Blues. However, the Home Win to Nil looks very tempting considering Palace`s inability to find the net this term. That outcome can be backed a very tempting 4/5.

You can back the Home Win to Nil at 4/5 with Bet365.
