Premier League preview and odds: Everton vs Swansea City

January 24, 2016 13:30pm - Goodison Park

Premier League

Everton will be out to break their drawing habit on Sunday when they welcome relegation battlers Swansea City to Goodison Park in the Barclays Premier League.

One win in nine for Toffees

Everton have won just one of their last nine Premier League matches, and just three since September. Their last win came on Boxing Day, when a last-gasp winner from Tom Cleverley secured all three points away to Newcastle. Despite their lack of wins, the Merseyside club are still occupying a mid-table position thanks to a league-leading total of 11 draws.

Roberto Martinez`s team come into this game on the back of three straight draws, the latest of which was a 3-3 stalemate away to Chelsea. On home soil, they are winless in four, with their last victory coming against bottom-club Aston Villa back in November.

Swans boosted by Watford win

New Swansea boss Francesco Guidolin watched from the stands as his side secured just their second victory in 12 games to overcome Watford (2-0) last week. The victory ensured that the Swans remain one point clear of the drop zone going into the next round of games.

Away from home, the Welsh club have won just one of their last 11 fixtures. That victory came against league trailers Aston Villa way back in October.

Team news

The home side will have to make do without Seamus Coleman, James McCarthy, Tyias Browning and Tony Hibbert, while Bryan Oviedo remains a doubt.

Meanwhile, the visitors have a full complement of players to choose from.

Betting odds and tips

Everton`s home record over the last 11 games (W3 D4 L4) does not make great reading. However, Swansea`s away record over the same period is also very poor(W1 D3 L7).

The away side would have boosted by the win last week, and also by the appointment of their new gaffer. As a result, the draw looks like a good option at 14/5 with Bet365.
