Leicester City vs West Ham United - Premier League Preview and Odds

January 22, 2020 19:30pm - King Power Stadium (Leicester)

Premier League

Leicester City can move to within three points of second-ranked Manchester City with a win at home to relegation-threatened West Ham United on Wednesday night.

The Foxes have an 11-point cushion over fifth-ranked Manchester United putting them on course for a top-four finish. However, a run of just two wins from seven league matches has kept them on their toes. They come into this game on the back of defeats at home to Southampton and away to Burnley and will be keen to end that losing streak.

Despite, their current form, Leicester have exceeded expectations overall. Many believed they could sneak into the top six but a top-four finish seemed unlikely before the season began. But the East Midland side have a history for upsetting the odds.

Meanwhile, West Ham United are in the heart of a relegation battle and will be desperate for a win to ease some of the pressure. New boss. David Moyes` second spell in charge of the club got off to the perfect start with a comfortable 4-0 win over AFC Bournemouth but picked up just one point from their next two matches against Sheffield United and Everton.

Only goal difference is keeping the Hammers out of the bottom three but they have two games in hand on the teams around them. A win at the King Power would lift them up to 15th in the table while defeat would leave them in 17th. They will hope to produce the kind of performance which saw them take all three points from visits to Chelsea and Southampton towards the end of last year.

Predicted line-ups:

Leicester City: Schmeichel Pereira, Evans, Soyuncu, Fuchs Mendy, Tielemans, Maddison Perez, Vardy, Barnes

West Ham United: Randolph Zabaleta, Diop, Ogbonna, Cresswell Snodgrass, Rice, Noble, Fornals, Lanzini Haller

Recent Form (League)

West Ham United: DDWLD

Betting odds and tips

Prior to the 4-0 drubbing to Liverpool on Boxing Day, Leicester City had been unbeaten at home all season. After losing their next home match to in-form Southampton, they will be keen to get back to winning ways at the King Power. A clash against one of the league`s strugglers could be just what they need.

West Ham began the season well and were sat in fifth place at the beginning of October. But they have been in freefall since and are now genuine contenders for the drop. The dynamic play that they were capable of under Manuel Pellegrini has been abandoned in favour of the more cautious approach of David Moyes.

The Hammers will need to be at the top of their game to take anything from this game and that does not look likely based on current form. Expect Leicester to return to winning ways at home with a comfortable win over the Londoners with Vardy getting on the score sheet.

You can back Jamie Vardy to Score and Leicester City to Win at 20/23.
