Premier League preview and odds: Stoke City vs. Watford

October 24, 2015 15:00pm – Britannia Stadium

Premier League

Stoke could make it four wins out of four when they welcome Premier League new boys to the Britannia Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Stoke on the ascent

The Potters are enjoying a fine run of form which extends to four wins in a row in all competitions including three Premier League triumphs. A win at the weekend could lift them back into the top ten – a place that they became familiar with last term.

Their latest win came courtesy of an early penalty by Spanish winger Bojan in the game away to Swansea. Once they took the lead, Stoke were able to shut out the home side with ease and returned to Staffordshire with all three points.

After failing to earn a win in their first six games, Mark Hughes’ new-look side seem to be finding their feet and have accumulated 10 points out of a possible 12 in their last four fixtures. They now sit in 11th place in the table on a total of 12 points. Hornets losing their sting

After a strong start to the season in which Watford lost just one of their first seven games, things have gone slightly off the boil for the Hertfordshire team. Two defeats and a draw in the last three games has seen the new kids on the block make a rapid descent towards the relegation zone.

Quique Sanches Flores will have been pleased with his team’s good first half performance in the home defeat to Arsenal last weekend, but he will be concerned about their lack of cutting edge up front.

When it comes to scoring goals, Watford are firmly at the bottom of the league table having netted just six all season. Odion Ighalo has bagged five of those, and is the only member of the current squad to have scored any goals this season, since opening-day goal hero Miguel Layun was loaned out to Porto in August.

Team news

Stoke will be hoping that Jon Walters will recover in time to face the Hornets, while striker Mame Diouf should also be available after returning from compassionate leave.

Meanwhile, Watford will be without Jose Manuel Jurado who is still suffering from a hamstring injury picked up earlier this month.

Betting odds and tips

Stoke will have their top goal scorer available once gain as they look to build on their recent good form. Their opponents are winless in three and continue to rely on one man to grab all their goals.

Based on current form, the home win looks like the most probably outome and can be backed at 23/20 with Betvictor. Mame Diouf should be back in the team following the sad passing of his mother and can be backed at 2/1 with Bet365 to find the net on his return.
