Capital One Cup preview and odds: Everton vs. Norwich

October 27, 2015 19:45pm – Goodison Park

League Cup

Everton and Norwich will compete for a place in the quarter-finals of this year’s Capital One Cup in one of five all-Premier League matches to be played in the last 16 of the competition.

Everton enjoy first home tie of competition

Roberto Martinez’s team will play at home for the first time in this year’s Capital One Cup when they face Norwich at Goodison Park on Tuesday night. They reached this stage of the competition for the first time in four years thanks to two away wins at Barnsley and Reading.

The Toffees have yet to add a League Cup to their trophy haul having been beaten finalists twice. They last reached the final back in 1984 when they were eventually defeated 1-0 by neighbours Liverpool in a match that had to be replayed at Maine Road after a goalless draw at Wembley. Norwich looking for third League Cup triumph

Norwich have already beaten one Premier League side in this year’s competition having disposed of West Bromwich Albion by three goals to nil in the last round. They last reached this stage of the tournament back in 2013 only to be beaten 4-0 by Manchester United.

Unlike Everton, Norwich have won this trophy before having secured two previous crowns. Their last victory came back in 1985 when they beat Sunderland 1-0 at Wembley in front of 100,000 people. Prior to that, they also won the 1962 edition when they defeated Division Four minnows Rochdale by a 4-0 aggregate score-line.

Team news

Everton can be expected to field a strong side in this game but could be without Tom Cleverly who has an ankle issue. Muhamed Besic is also missing with a hamstring injury and will sit out this game along with Leighton Baines, Tony Hibbert and Steven Pienaar.

The Canaries will also be taking this game seriously but will have to make do without Youssuf Mulumbu who has been side-lined after fracturing a metatarsal.
