Premier League preview and odds: Newcastle United vs Everton

December 26, 2015 17:30pm - St. James` Park

Premier League

Newcastle United will be hoping to continue their recent revival when they come up against a wobbling Everton side in the Barclays Premier League at St. James` Park on Boxing Day.

Toon unbeaten in three

Newcastle are enjoying their first three-game unbeaten run of the season, after notching back-to-back wins against Liverpool and Spurs followed by a draw at home to Aston Villa.

Steve McClaren`s men have not produced the most scintillating football in that time, but points are all that matter for teams occupying the lower reaches of the league table. As a result of their recent exploits, the northeast club have escaped the clutches of the drop zone and are currently sat in 17th place in the table.

Everton hold mid-table spot

Everton are once again stuck in the middle of the Premier League table after a winless run including four draws and a defeat. The Toffees have won just two league matches since September, with both of those victories coming against the bottom two clubs.

Last time out, they fell 2-3 at home to league leaders Leicester City in a game that they were always chasing. Prior to that they played out a trio of draws against Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Norwich.

Team news

The Geordies will have to wait on the fitness of Papiss Cisse and Jamal Lascelles, but will definitely be without the services of Mike Williamson, Massadio Haidara, Rolando Aarons, Tim Krul, Steven Taylor, Emannuel Riviere and Gabriel Obertan.

Meanwhile, the visitors are still without Phil Jagielka, Tony Hibbert and Bryan Oviedo.
