Premier League preview and odds: AFC Bournemouth vs Manchester City

April 02, 2016 15:00pm - Vitality Stadium

Premier League

AFC Bournemouth could all but secure their Premier League status with a win over a stumbling Manchester City side at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

Cherries set for mid-table finish

It now looks almost certain that AFC Bournemouth`s Premier League adventure will continue into next season. The South Coast club have exceeded all expectations and look to be well on course for a mid-table finish.

Eddie Howe`s men have achieved their target by playing entertaining and attacking football, and have won many admirers in the process. With solid backing and a talented young manager at the helm, they will now be looking to establish themselves in the elite tier of English football for the long term.

They come into this match on the back of a 3-0 defeat to title candidates Tottenham Hotspur. Prior to that loss, they secured three straight wins against Swansea, Newcastle and Southampton.

Manchester City out of title race

Manchester City are now 15 points behind league leaders Leicester City and have just one game in hand. Barring a complete collapse from the leaders and second-ranked Tottenham Hotspur, it appears as if Manchester City’s title challenge is over.

While Manuel Pellegrini`s men are involved in the Champions League, they still have plenty of work to do if they are to secure a top four finish this season. They are currently sat in fourth place just a pint above fifth-ranked West Ham and sixth-ranked Manchester United.

In their last game, they were beaten 1-0 at home by their city rivals and prior to that, they were held to a 0-0 draw at Norwich. Their only win in their last six Premier League matches came at home to bottom club Aston Villa.

Team news

The home side are still without the injured trio of Harry Arter, Callum Wilson and Tyrone Mings. Meanwhile, Joe Hart, Yaya Toure, Raheem Sterling and Vincent Kompany could all be missing for the visitors.
