Tottenham Hotspur vs AS Roma - International Champions Cup Preview and Odds

July 26, 2017 01:00pm - Red Bull Arena

Premier League

Tottenham Hotspur began their North American International Champions Cup campaign with an impressive 4-2 win over Paris Saint-Germain in Orlando on Saturday night and will look to carry that form into this clash. With games against Manchester City and Juventus still to come, their US tour should give punters a good chance to assess their credentials ahead of the new Premier League season.

Spurs will hope to mount another title challenge - however, they have yet to make any significant signings and have already parted company with Kyle Walker. Mauricio Pochettino is likely to stick with most of the squad that he has developed so well over the last two seasons, with just one or two new additions expected before the transfer window shuts. Their priority will be hanging on to star players such as Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Christian Eriksen.

Meanwhile, in stark contrast, Roma have been rather busy in the transfer market, raising £100m through the sale of Antonio Rudiger, Leandro Paredes, and Mohamed Salah and drafting in Rick Karsdorp, Cengiz Under, Bruno Peres, and Lorenzo Pellegrini with change to spare.

They lost their opening game in this tournament, falling on penalties to PSG after playing out a 1-1 draw over 90 minutes. Prior to that match, they enjoyed friendly wins against lesser opponents. Following this match, they will face fellow Italians Juventus and Spanish side Sevilla before getting their league campaign underway.

Betting odds and tips

Recent games involving these side have produced plenty of goals, with Spur`s last five matches producing 29 goals and Roma`s last five producing 28. As a result, the Over 2.5 Goals wager looks tempting.
