Serie A preview and odds: Fiorentina vs Sampdoria

April 03, 2016 15:00pm - Stadio Artemio Franchi

Serie A

Fading Fiorentina will be attempting to revive their Champions League qualification hopes this weekend, when they welcome relegation-threatened Sampdoria to Stadio Artemio Franchi in Serie A.

Fiorentina losing touch with top three

After a blistering start to the season, Fiorentina have gradually faded away and now look set to miss out on a Champions League qualification spot.

The Viola are currently sat in fourth place, five point behind third-ranked Roma and level on points with sixth-ranked Inter. A run of 10 games including four wins, five draws and one defeat has allowed their Roman rivals to pull away.

In their last outing, they were held to a disappointing 0-0 draw away to Frosinone, and prior to that, they drew 1-1 at home to bottom club Hellas Verona. Perhaps most disappointing of all, was the 4-1 defeat away to Roma three weeks ago, that may have effectively ended their hopes of a top-three finish.

Sampdoria need win to stay clear of trouble

Sampdoria are sat in 15th place in the Serie A table, just four points clear of the relegation zone. A win this weekend would keep their clear of trouble heading into the last seven games.

Vincenzo Montella`s men have won just two of their last 12 games, but both of those wins came against the bottom two teams in the league. They come into this game on the back of a 1-0 defeat at home to Chievo. Away from home, they have won just two games all season and have lost four of their last six.

Team news

Nenad Tomovic and Yohan Benalouane are both out of action for the home side.

Meanwhile, the visitors will have to make do without the services of Angelo Palombo, Carlos Carbonero, who are boith injured.
