William Hill App Review

Published on: 20/11/2016

William Hill is one of the UK’s largest betting companies and also has a significant worldwide presence. As one of the oldest names in the business, the William Hill brand is recognised as a trusted name in the industry.

However, things have not always been easy for the business, which has been sold and restructured several times over the last 25 years. More recently, the company had to invest a serious amount of money to bring its online operations up-to-date.

Today, William Hill has a strong online presence and has created a great mobile app to complement its popular website. As part of our recent series of tests, we put the William Hill app through its paces.

Overview

William Hill’s mobile app is available across a range of devices using the Apple IOS and Android platforms. Punters who use other operating systems may have to make do with the mobile version of the main website which mirrors much of the applications features. The app offers one of the best all-round packages available. It is great looking, easy to navigate and has a huge number of events, markets and funding options.

Key Features

When you are betting on a mobile device, you want everything to be quick and easy to operate. William Hill have worked to develop a betting application that offers an incredibly convenient way of gambling. Existing users can get started straight away, while new users will need to follow the simple three-step registration process.

The live betting service is very well executed on the Willian Hill app. In fact, it is almost on par with Bet365’s market leading model. There are a huge number of markets available and the live text commentary and statistics are clear and easy to understand. The app features live HD streaming of most horse races, although streaming of other sports is still limited and that is the one area where the William Hill app could be improved.

Punters can stake a minimum bet of £0.03 and there are a huge amount of payment options, with nearly every debit card, credit card and e-wallet accepted. In fact, it is hard to think of another app that offers so many ways to deposit and withdraw your money.

Usability

The first thing that impresses about the William Hill app is the design. The interface is slick and appealing and very pleasing on the eye with blue and white base colours and well-rendered graphics.

Navigation is extremely straightforward with simple icons for the most popular features and a menu button for access to the rest of the options. You can search events by sport, competition and date, while the home screen provides quick links to in-play betting and popular events. Even when betting on the most obscure markets, it should never take more than half a dozen touches of the screen to place your bet. For many popular markets, bets can be placed in just a couple of clicks.

Sign-up Bonuses and Reload Offers

Okay, so what’s in it for you? Of course, all reputable betting companies offers a sign-up bonus and William Hill is no exception. New customers who enter the relevant Promo Code will get £20 in free bets when they their first bet of £10 or more. To qualify for the bet, punters must wager on single or multiple selections with odds greater than 1/5 (1.2).

In addition, William Hill has a range of ongoing offers that mobile users can take advantage of. From guaranteed best prices to free bets, there is always a range of incentives available to existing customers.

Betting Markets

There is no shortage of markets to bet on with the William Hill app. Even the most diverse sports we selected for our test were available on the app including handball, futsal, hurling and Aussie Rules. You can also bet on TV, politics and other special events. On popular events such as Premier League football matches, you will find over 200 betting options within each fixture. And that’s more than enough for any punter to deal with!

Customer Service

William Hill customers can now call the customer service department free of charge from their mobile phone. This makes up for the lack of a live chat service and FAQ section within the app. However, live chat and email queries can still be made through normal web channels. Enquiries can also be made through the company’s Twitter and Facebook pages.

Conclusion

William Hill may be an old school betting name but they have managed to keep up to date with modern betting trends and have grabbed a significant share of the market in some of the biggest gambling regions.

Overall, the William Hill app offers probably the most satisfying browsing experience of all the mobile apps that we tested, although it lacks a couple of bells and whistles that some of their competitors have squeezed into their products. With a few more tweaks, it could become the best betting app on the market.

For range of events, value of bets, joy of use and promotional offers the application is right up there at the top of the list. For those that demand a bigger choice of live streaming, quick bet options and a few of the other fancy extras that are missing, it might not quick hit the mark. Either way, if you bet on a regular basis, this is an app worth downloading to your device.
